Sponsor: Pet insurance could help you offset rising veterinary costs
Veterinarians nationwide reported that corporate managers pushed clinics to focus on profit, with vets often paid based on revenue. This encouraged them to see more pets, order more tests, and upsell services, creating a growing burden for uninsured pet owners.
Pet insurance could help you offset some of these rising costs, with some providing up to 90% reimbursement. View Money’s top pet insurance picks to see plans starting at only $10/month.

U.S. Job Growth Revised Down by 911,000
The U.S. economy added 911,000 fewer jobs than previously reported for the year prior to March 2025, with estimates suggesting a total reduction of 1.2 million jobs over 16 months.
This significant downward revision, the largest since 2002, signals a weaker labor market, increasing pressure on the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates.
Markets now expect a quarter-point rate cut at the Fed’s September 17, 2025, meeting, with some speculation of a half-point cut, and additional cuts at the three remaining 2025 meetings.
The revisions, primarily in leisure, hospitality, and professional services, reflect updated data from the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages.
Despite the weak jobs data, Goldman Sachs estimates the reduction may be closer to 550,000, suggesting current conditions might not be as dire. The White House criticized the BLS and Fed Chair Jerome Powell, urging immediate rate cuts.

HSA invest vs spend, made practical
Health Savings Accounts can be stealth retirement vehicles if you are on a high‑deductible plan, because qualified medical withdrawals are tax‑free and contributions reduce your taxable income.
Today, take five minutes to decide whether to invest some of your HSA instead of leaving it in cash. IRS rules let you contribute pretax, grow tax‑deferred, and withdraw tax‑free for qualified medical expenses, defined in Publication 969 and the 502 list.
Many HSA providers now offer low‑cost index funds once you pass a cash threshold; fees and thresholds vary widely, so check your provider’s page before you switch on investing. If you routinely cover out‑of‑pocket costs from your checking account, you can save receipts and reimburse yourself years later, allowing invested HSA dollars more time to compound.
Today’s actions
Log in to your HSA and confirm the investment threshold and fund lineup, then move any excess cash above your comfort buffer into a broad index fund.
Use an HSA calculator to model tax savings and long‑run growth based on your contribution rate and expected medical spending.
Store digital copies of receipts for future tax‑free reimbursements and track your basis annually.
